Our
Story
Once upon a time...well, actually,
it's not necessarily your typical fairy tale beginning! In
fact, it's not at all likely that Sean and Dana would have
met normally, except for a series of "coincidences"
or "Godcidences" that brought them together.
In the summer of 2003, Dana was simply planning to be a counselor
at Camp American, run by her cousins up in Pokagon State Park
in Angola, Indiana for the summer. Sean was asked at last
minute to stand in for a fellow board member (of an organization
he was a part of) that could not attend the camp at last minute.
Sean realized that his hope of eventually being a camp counselor
at some point might come true, so, against his general inclination
due to scheduling and preparation, he actually took up the
opportunity.
Of course, plans changed drastically for both of them when
each met the other! It just so happened that Sean and Dana
were both available (relationship-wise) again just in time
for meeting at camp. Not to mention, Dana had just recently
had her 18th birthday.
Initially, Dana was reluctant to date right away, so Sean
pursued her for a few weeks and persisted as is his nature!
Sean and Dana started dating while both were in Colorado later
that summer. Dana was visiting family in Colorado Springs
and Sean decided to visit his cousin in Denver. They met up
and went to Garden of the Gods and to a small Italian restaurant
nearby for their first date on July 19, 2003.
While dating in October 2004, interestingly, the attorney
of Terri Schiavo's family, David C. Gibbs, III was incredibly
excited about the match. In fact, so much so that he felt
confident that the engagement occur in his presence while
speaking in Evansville! Graciously, he offered to announce
it while he was on stage and was very willing to make any
and all other arrangements to see it happen. Of course, it
didn't happen quite then.
Last summer, after exactly 5 years of both of them travelling
approximately 415 miles one way on numerous occasions to continue
dating, Sean (many would say "finally!") proposed
to Dana -- in no ordinary place, mind you. Because she would
be en route to Florida for work purposes and to signify the
type of over-the-road, long distance relationship they held,
Sean proposed at a rest park in Kentucky late at night on
July 19, 2008. Dana was completely surprised and shocked,
but Sean believes the most important aspect was that she accepted!
Now, one day shy of six years later, we are excited to
have all of you with us for ...

See you soon!
